Paringin, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Balangan Coal Companies (BCC) has provided training for farmer groups in Juai Sub-district, Balangan District, South Kalimantan, through Field School-Pest Control (SL-PLH), Monday (January 18, 2023)
The training through BCC's Corporate Social Responsibility program, which was opened by CSR Section Head Heriansyah Rusli, was attended by three farmer groups in Juai.
They were Hidup Cerah Farmers Group of Sei Batung Village, Harapan Baru Farmers Group of Hamarung Village, and Maju Bersama Farmers Group of Gulinggang Village.
Rusli said that the training on the cultivation of green onions (Allium Fistulosum) was one of the company's real form of helping the community to improve economy in agriculture sector.
"This activity is carried out to arouse young people who are starting to leave agriculture and choose to work in other sectors," he said.
Considering South Kalimantan Province has a lot of agriultural potential, including spring onions, then in 2022 through Adaro Tani Sejahtera program, BCC started fostering farmer groups in the three villages.
The guiding began with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) related to spring onions farming that had been carried out and the problems faced by farmers.
After the results of FGD were obtained, this year further training was conducted packed in the form of field school.
BCC collaborated with the Juai Agriculture Counseling Center (BPP) to provide knowledge and skill of spring onions cultivation.
“Thanks to Balangan Coal Grup for assisting farmer groups in Juai in increasing knowledge and skill of green onions cultivation," said Ahyar as SL-PLH resourceperson.
He cknowledged that for the first time there was a synergy between farmer groups, BPP Juai, and private company (Balangan Coal Companies) operating in Balangan District.(adv)
