Balangan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Balangan Government plans to build a rubber processing industry, as the disrict is one of the largest rubber latex production in South Kalimantan.


Regent Balangan H Ansharuddin here on Tuesday said the plan to build a rubber factory is now in the research process. "In 2008 the construction of the plant has been through several phases by the developers, even land for factory site in Batumerah Village, Sub-district of Lampihong, also ready," he said.

Currently, he said, the government re-establishes communication with the developers beforehand in order to continue the construction of the rubber plant.

"I know this time the farmers sell rubber latex to Barabai (Central Hulu Sungai), Amuntai (North Hulu Sungai), even to Tanjung (Tabalong), because no factory in Balangan," he said.

Regent acknowledges the condition is strange, because rubber plantations is quite extensive in Balangan.

In addition to plans to build a rubber factory, Regency Balangan today is already negotiating with PT Adaro Indonesia for rubber processing.

"The farmers have been expecting the rubber processing factory. Hopefully it is quickly realized and brings rubber farmers to prosper," he said.

Currently, the price of rubber is still not stable in the range of Rp4,000 to Rp5,000 per kilogram.
