Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Pungli or illegal levies in several piers in Banjarmasin complained by tourism attraction visitor and kelotok drivers because it feels burdensome.


One kelotok driver for Banjarmasin - floating market Lok Baintan route on Sunday said illegal levies varies between Rp10,000 to Rp15,000 per kelotok. Kelotok is a traditional river boat usually fitted with motors inboard or outboard.

"The collectors were impressed force, though we only stopped briefly and no provisions that we have to pay when dock," said the man who declined to be named.

According to him, the docks where extortion are often among are Surgi Mufti pier at Sungai Jingah and Museum Waja Sampai ka Puting (Wasaka) beside the Banua Anyar bridge.

The collectors are two or three people from the local area who do not have jobs, even seem like thugs.

"One day I brought officials and members of TNI visited Wasaka, but they did not hesitate charging dock. Supposedly they were ashamed or fear of getting caught," said the man who had dozens of years as kelotok driver.

Displeasure also delivered by Jani, a tourist. He said, pungli could reduce kelotok driver's income.

When confirmed, the Head of Banjarmasin Tourism Development Khuzaimi said extortion in the number of kelotok docks are illegal, because the agency never gave any permission to dock user fees.
