Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Inmates in correctional institute (lapas) and state prison (rutan) in South Kalimantan from January to the end of November 2015 reached 7,300.


"You could say that the current occupant has exceeded the capacity of existing prisons," said Head of the South Kalimantan Regional Office of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights Yunaedi in Banjarmasin, Thursday.

He said, overloaded in every prison in South Kalimantan reached about 264 percent. The prison capacity is only about 2,770 inmates, while the current occupants as many as 7,300 inmates.

For example, the Teluk Dalam Prison in Banjarmasin inhibated by 2,372 inmates, while the capacity of the prisons is only 366 inmates.

Seen from the data, the Teluk Dalam Prison excess of 648 per cent. While the duty officer only 14 were divided into four teams.

In fact, the Regional Office of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights forced to make prisons "three in one" to get around the shortage rooms.
