Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Kotabaru  Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded the number of hotspots reaches 473 during August to October 2015.


"A total of 473 based on detection of hotspots by Aqua Terra satellites or Modis presented by the South Kalimantan Disaster Management Agency," said Kotabaru BPBDs head Irian Noor here on Thursday.


And the peak was on October 19, when as many as 147 hotspots occured in Kotabaru, continued Irian.
 
According to him, hotspots detected mostly located on land owned by community, and on the condition of land overgrown with shrubs and some are forests.

From that 473 hotspots, forest and land fires estimated at more than 500 hectares.

Not to let fires spread, BPBDs Kotabaru alongside with the Army, Navy, Health Agency, Agency for National and Political Unity and relevant agencies formed a joint team to build fire management posts.

One of the tasks of the team is fighting fire by deploying a number of its fleet.
