Despite having trouble getting clean water due to drought, still do not use the river water. Try to find a safe and healthy to consume,"Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of the Banjarmasin Regional Environmental Agency (BLHD) Hamdi advises people in this area not to use river water for consumption, because it was not feasible.
According to him, the river water in the region has it all tasted very salty and also contain E. coli bacteria, that is dangerous to be processed for consumption.
"Despite having trouble getting clean water due to drought, still do not use the river water. Try to find a safe and healthy to consume," he stressed in Banjarmasin Sunday.
Said Hamdi, the river water has a salinity up to 8000 ppm, which means it has a very serious, because it is very far from the quality standards to be consumed as determined by health ministry.
"While Permenkes (Health Ministry Regulation) only limit to 2,500 PPM, meaning that is not recommended for consumption, though it was cooked," he said.
According to him, the long dry season makes intrusion or the entry of sea water into the river can not be resisted, up to creeks related to Martapura River.
"So river water taste very salty, rather chelate, though it was processed by means of modern municipal water companies still do not taste as it should be," said Hamdi.
