Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of the Banjarbaru Environment Agency (BLH) Fahrudin assesses the disposal of hundreds of bottles of liquid of hazardous and toxic waste (B3) including serious violations.


Related to findings of hundreds of bottles of toxic liquor in the area of ??Jalan Kong Ex Landasan Ulin Selatan Village, Wednesday (9/9), he said the team has been deployed to the scene to examine the bottles thrown away carelessly and burned together with land fires.

"Seeing the label attached to the bottle concluded that it was contained hazardous and toxic waste liquid," said Head of Controlling of BLH Muhammad Afriji in Banjarbaru Friday.

He mentioned, the label written at the bottles are EMSURE, ACS, Reag ISO Propanol and methanol containing compounds B3 category or toxic and flammable.

In addition to finding hundreds of glass bottles, BLH Banjarbaru team found other stuff like Majun or washcloth for the workshop, oil filters and fluorescent light tubes.

"Given the characteristics of the objects discovered, presumably derived from industrial activities and not from Banjarbaru, but from outside and dumped at the site (Jalan Kong)," said Afriji.

Environmental terms on the disposal of waste, including hazardous and toxic materials, is dumping or buildup somewhere without permission.

"The deeds of people who dispose violating Article 60 and 104 of Law No. 32 on the environment threatened three years in prison or a fine of Rp3 billion," he said.

BLH plan to clean the area of ??disposal of toxic bottles, but Police Banjarbaru requested locations not to be cleared before investigation.
