Barabai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Floods have left piles of rubbish, mostly pieces of wood and bamboo, pile-up at several points on Barabai River, Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District, blocking the flow of the river.
A village supervisory non-commissioned officer (Babinsa) of the 1002-07/Batu Benawa Sub-district Military Command (Koramil) Serda Tajuddin with residents of Aluan Besar Village and Paya Besar Village worked together to clean up the debris that blocked the water flow with makeshift equipment, Saturday (Nov 20, 2021).
Head of Aluan Besar BPD Edi Siswanto said the debris of wood twigs and bamboo if they were not cleaned up will caused other flood. They had blocked the river current to cause the river to overflow and swamped two villages, Aluan Besar and Paya Besar.
Serda Tajuddin said he could only help residents in their mutual work with a patch-up or limited tools.
"Although the result is not maximum, the river current is back to flow and we have cleaned up some of the rubbish," he said.
