Barabai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Central Hulu Sungai (HST) government has set a disaster alert status from November 10, 2021, to March 10, 2022, or for four months.
The determination was the result of a hydrometeorological disaster preparedness coordination meeting involving related elements, including the district leaders communication forum (forkopimda), Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), heads of regional organization units (SOPD), Disaster Response Team (Tagana), Fire Brigade, PMI, and Disaster Care Community in Barabai, Tuesday.

HST Deputy Regent H Mansyah Sabri said all parties must be alert of the potential of extreme weather during the transition from dry to the rainy season.
"We have learned from the past experience of the flash flood. Inevitably it becomes a whip for us to further increase our vigilance and preparedness in anticipating disasters in our region," he pointed out.
According to him, it is necessary to take steps to anticipate disasters, such as the need for community-based early warning, as well as community-based communication level, and the need to determine evacuation routes and places to refuge.
