Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaraKalsel) - Vice President M Jusuf Kalla said the construction of airports as a means of air transport should be modern but also simple and able to provide comfort and safety for users of the service.
Vice President on the groundbreaking of Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin International Airport development in Banjarbaru on Monday said the construction of an airport that prioritizes elements of local culture architectural is important, but can be inefficient and even somewhat forced.
According to him, the airport has two distinct functions. Among people who came and wanted a quick exit it must be equipped with good facilities and complete. On the other hand, for passengers awaiting flights then it function as a place to wait must be equipped with facilities that are not boring.
"Comfort and security are very important because a plane crash not only national but become international news, so both should take precedence," he said.
Transport Minister Ignatius Jonan said, the airport development budget allocated by PT Angkasa Pura I Rp2.3 trillion.
"The new terminal area reached 20 times that of the old terminal that is capable of serving 10 million passengers per year with workmanship for 24 months," he said.
Laying the first stone of Syamsudin Noor International Airport marked by pressing siren performed by the Vice President accompanied by Minister of Transportation and South Kalimantan Governor Rudy Ariffin.
