Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Polling station (TPS) 10 in Bangkal Urban Village, Cempaka Sub-district, Banjarbaru City, was devastated by whirlwind that hit the area. 


East Banjarbaru Police Chief Fist Inspector (Iptu) Khamdari said the incident occurred on Wednesday (Dec 9, 2020) at about 09.30 WITA (Central Indonesia Time) when voting process took place at the TPS located on the vacant lot. 

"The incident took place quickly when heavy rain accompanied by strong wind caused tents and TPS equipment were devastated. Officers immediately saved themselves and one person was slightly injured," he said. 

All equipments, including tables and chairs were scattered. While ballot papers and ballot boxes were rescued by KPPS (polling station working committees), so that the voting could continue. 

After the incident, the police immediately coodinated with the General Election Commission (KPU) and the election supervisory committee (panwascam). The voting was then moved to another location. 

The incident of the TPS was a mess ravaged by the whirlwind had circulated in an amateur video in the internet, making nitizens wondered where the location of the incident because it was not mentioned.
