Tanjung , South Kalimantan ( Antaranews ) - Malaria Program Manager of the Tabalong Health Agency, Wasul Falah here on Tuesday mentions from January through March 2014, it reached 614 people exposed to malaria.
"Most malaria cases found in the northern region of Tabalong, including subdistrict of Jaro, Haruai, Upau and Muara Uya with patient age 15 to 54 years," said Wasul.
There are 410 malaria positive patients in Jaro after blood workup, with details of 402 men and 8 women.
A similar case is found in Muara Uya with 147 patients, Haruai 10 patient and Upau 6 people.
Meanwhile, in the southern region, malaria cases are found in the subdistrict Kelua with 4 patients and 3 patients in Tanjung.
"We've done provision of treatment for patients with artemisinin combination therapies or ACT and non-ACT form of the drug quinine and the like," explains Wasul.
ACT treatment was carried out in malaria endemic areas Jaro, Muara Uya, Haruai and Upau including screening of pregnant women with the target number 13,737 people.
Based on the research results of the Health Agency and PT Adaro Indonesia assisted by community health centers (puskesmas) and village cadres interpreter malaria (JMD) in the subdistrict of Jaro, approximately 72.4 percent of respondents who work in the fields and forests at high risk of contracting malaria.
Intensification of malaria intervention programs that have been conducted among are socialization of health services and case management of malaria with ACT, Diagnostic use of rapid tests (RDT) and training of a cadre of village malaria interpreter.
