Kotabaru Wins " Ki Hajar Award "

Kotabaru , South Kalimantan ( Antaranews ) - The Kotabaru  Government was awarded with "Ki Hajar Award" in the field of Information Communication Technology and by the Ministry of Education and Culture for the success of this region to eradicate illiteracy.

"The literacy rate here in 2013 was recorded 98.07 percent of the 100 percent target in 2015," said Regent Kotabaru H Irhami Ridjani, Sunday.

Regent asserted in his leadership since August 2010, improving the quality of human resources (HR) through

education and health is one of the priority programs.

"By improving the quality of human resources we will be capable of managing at the same maintaining natural resources we owned by focusing on education and health," he said.

Among the ways are to improve professionalism of educators, improved educational facilities, as well as open up greater opportunities for people who are not able to obtain a free education, through subsidizing cost of education from elementary shcool, junior high school, high school and vocational high school.

While health programs is to add medical personnel as needed gradually, improved quality of care at every level of service, development of health insurance for the population, especially poor families, as well as equity and quality improvement of health services facilities.

The achievement of the health sector can be seen from the age of hope live to 66.15 years in 2013 up from 65.81 years in 2012.

As an indicator of success, local government received an award from the Ministry of Health for the category of best first remote health community centers (Puskesmas).

In the achievement of human development can be seen from the Human Development Index (IPM) in 2012 was 72.43 percent higher than the average of South Kalimantan IPM 71.08 percent.
