Tanjung, South Kalimantan ( Antaranews ) - Tabalong District Government, South Kalimantan, will charge a levy for renewal permit on foreign workers at 100 US dollars per month per person.

Rahmadi, head of Productivity and Transmigration Expansion Sector of the Tabalong Labor and Manpower Agency (Disnakeertrans) at Tanjung on Wednesday said local regulations on permit extension for foreign workers has been approved by the local assembly and will be introduced this year.

Period of levy itself is for one month and is collected when a levies assessment is issued (SKRD).

The law, according to Rahmadi, can increase revenue given the number of foreign workers in Tabalong quite large. Data on Tabalong Disnakertrans, the current number of foreign workers who have been officially reported around 240 people.

"Foreign workers are there in Tabalong mostly work in Chinese owned company located in Subdistrict Haruai and Upau," said Rahmadi.
