Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The Banjarbaru City Government requires every housing developer to build embung or small water reservoirs in housing complex that has a multifunctional.
"Developers are required to build embung in a residential area, so it can be used according to need, " said Head of the Banjarbaru Regional Development Planning Agency Said Abdullah on Wednesday.
He said the land area to be prepared for embung about 5 percent of the total 30 percent of public facilities. Public facilities such as roads, green space and playgrounds shall be prepared.
For the manufacture of ponds or embung can utilize one land or a plot of land taken from the open green space in the housing neighborhood, so it can be used as a casual by member of society.
"The form can be like a pool of water, so if it rains , the water can be accommodated in the reservoir. If the dry season , the water can be used to meet the needs of the community , " he said.
According to him , the local government policy is the right way to prevent flooding and inundation. Whereas, the change of land use into residential areas make the catchment areas were reduced, so that it should be anticipated through the small reservoir which has a lot of functions to long term .
"So, flooding and waterlogging solution due to rain not only by preparing drainage, but ponds or pool as a flood prevention and receiving water during the dry season," he said.
Ponds in residential areas is a small scale, whereas the large dam be built in the northern region of the ring, right behind Syamsudin Noor Airport 10 hectares. It is planned to be realized in 2014 by provincial government financial assistance as well as central administration, he said.
