Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Banjarmasin City Government through the Water Resources (SDA) Agency is building a local tower to support tourism in the city.
Head of Banjarmasin SDA, Ir Muryanta, told reporters in Banjarmasin city hall on Thursday the tower is 21 meters high with four floors. Building with a size of 13 X 35 square meters has a capacity of 200 people, located in bank of Martapura River on Jalan Piere Tendean .
A concrete building designed a typical Banjar built over two fiscal years (2013 and 2014) by a national company, PT Karya Nidia. The project value is Rp14,5 billion.
According to Muryanta, the building at the ground floor is not given wall, then the walls of the first given to the third floor, while the top or fourth floor again without wall.
With no wall at the top of building, visitors who climbed to the viewing tower will be free to see the sights of the city which nicknamed as "City of Thousand Rivers".
The ground floor can also be used for temporary exhibitions, while the first floor, second and third can be used for a variety of other activities.
Public, especially travelers, will be free up the tower which is designed to use the elevator.
With the establishment of the tower in the middle of the city it is expected to an iconic and lure more tourists coming to this region. Then for those who take pictures with background view of the tower, people will know if it is in Banjarmasin, said Muryanta.
