BMKG: Alert Extreme Weather

Banjarbaru , South Kalimantan ( Antaranews ) - Meteorology , Climatology , and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Climatological Station Class I Banjarbaru urged people to be wary of extreme weather in the transition seasons.

BMKG Banjarbaru Head Purwanto on Tuesday said the transition from the dry season to the wet season is predicted to occur during October to November 2013.

"Extreme weather in the transition season as heavy rains accompanied by strong winds and lightning and high waves should be watched out," he said.

He said, during the height of the dry season into the transition, several issues should also be wary such as land and forest fires in various regions.

In addition, respiratory disorders such as Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (ISPA) and other health problems as a result of changes in temperature and weather should also receive attention.

"We've delivered an early warning related to the peak dry season from October to November and is expected to alert people to avoid things that are not desirable," he remind.

The drought is predicted to be shorter and is expected to last for three months between August and October to November.
