Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Dozens of containers that plunged into the waters of Barito River Channel due to an accident continued to be evacuated.
Head of Sailing and Safety Patrol KSOP Banjarmasin, Hafid Budiman, here on Monday said there have been several containers successfully lifted transferred to another container ship.
Accident occurred on Sunday (18/8) night at about 20:15, when Sinar Panjang containers ship touched with a barge BG Anggada 2 towed tugsboat TB Mitrajaya 1.
53 containers fell. Consequently Barito channel declared closed temporarily to avoid navigational hazards. Most of fallen container floats and is considered dangerous to ships that pass the channel.
"Accidents of the two ships happen in the waters between buoy 4 and buoy 5 of Barito Channel when the two were incoming and lead to Banjarmasin," he explained.
