Pelaihari, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Tanah Laut Polytechnic graduated as many as 229 students in the 8th class graduation held in Banjarmasin on Wednesday (17/9), said it director Hj Mufrida Zein.
"There is an increase of about 42 percent," she said in a graduation held at Mahligai Pancasila Building, Banjarmasin, added that in 2018 Tanah Laut Polytechnic had graduated 161 students and this year as many as 229 students have been graduated.
The graduates were 112 students majoring technical informatic, 80 students of agriculture industry, while 37 students were from automotive machinery. The were awarded a diploma 3 or associate degree.
The improvement, the director remarked, not only in number but also in quality. This year 72 student graduated with cum laude honor, while last year 58 students won the same honor. So, there was an addition of 14 students whose graduation with honors cum laude.
The best graduate was awarded to Septi Saputri, Dodo Waluyo, and Ahsanul Fikri.

The Governor of South Kalimantan H Sahbirin Noor, who attended the graduation, appreciated the existance of the higher education of Tanah Laut Polytechnic as a signal effort of Tanah Laut District to produce a superior generation.
According to him, the progress of the nation depends on its human resource and a higher education is one of a lab to produce a superior generation.
"The South Kalimantan Provincial Government always trying to synergize with the central government in relation to human resources quality improvement and we are very aware of it," he pointed out.

While the Regent of Tanah Laut H Sukamta hoped the graduation has a very important and strategic value in order to build the future of the district, where people, especially young generation, master sciences in the frame of iman (faith) and taqwa (piety).
