Banjarbaru, (Antaranews.South Kalimantan) - Fish Breeding Centers (BBI) managed by the Banjarbaru Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry Agency (Distankanhut) serve seed supply for the People's Business Hatchery (UPR) in the city.
"Seeds of fish that successfully developed by BBI prioritized to serve fish farmers who are members of the People's Business Hatchery," said Head of Banjarbaru Distankanhut Muhammad Rustam on Sunday.
BBI located on Pinus Street, Village Mentaos managed by Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) under Distankanhut and has broad reach one hectare equipped with hatchery ponds.
He said, UPR spread in five sub-districts could order seeds in the form of larvae that successfully developed in BBI either through purchase or pattern of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Pattern of cooperation is the delivery of fish seed in the larval form of BBI to farmers who set pool maintenance and after fulfilling the standard size seed can be sold to the Market Fish Seed (PBI).
"So farmers get benefit because they only prepare pool maintenance, while the seeds of BBI and after a seed, can be sold to the PBI system for mutually beneficial results," he said.
According to him, BBI which began operationalized since three months ago has been successfully developed the hatchery of four types of fish Nila, goldfish, catfish and damselfish otherwise known as fish Papuyu in Banjar society.
