Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Crime in the City of Banjarmasin during Ramadhan to Eid al-Fitr 1440 Hijriyah, has decreased, even almost nothing compared to before Ramadan.


"Until after lebaran (post-fasting festivities) criminal acts or crimes in this region nothing stands out," said the Head of the Banjarmasin Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) Adj Comr (AKP) Ade Papa Rihi Sik here, Tuesday.

He said, there were indeed a few criminal offenses but were just ordinary, such as helmet theft and were immediately overcome by members in the field.

Less or decrease of crime compared to ordinary days because the police increased their performance, especially security patrols on the streets and in residential neighborhood.

With the frequent police patrolling in the morning, noon, night until before dawn, the perpetrators of criminal acts have no chance to act.

In addition, there is often the presence of uniformed police in the community to patrol crowded centers, such as markets and shopping centers.

"We are also focusing on following up on the brawl that occurred during Ramadhan, but it was not sustainable because the police were immediately alert to deal with it," said the 2006 Police Academy alumnus.

The police also has pocketed a collection of young people who often carry out fights and data collection has been carried out.

"There are two regions that we supervise at this time and there are several youth associations who are also being monitored. If they take action again, we will act firmly. If it need legal sanctions, we will give them," he said.

Ade Papa Rihi said that based on the order of the City Police Chief Sr. Comr. Sumarto, anyone who makes trouble and disturbs the people in this city must be dealt with strictly according to the applicable rules.
