The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Office of Banjarmasin and BMKG Tjilik Riwut Palangkaraya Class I Meteorology Station signed a cooperation agreement on SAR services.


Head of Class I Meteorology Station Tjilik Riwut Catur Winarti Office of Banjarmasin Mujiono SP and Head of Basarnas signed the agreement in the Banjarbaru Climatology Station on Friday (5/17).

"This cooperation greatly supports our performance in obtaining meteorological information in the context of search and rescue operations (SAR) as long as the flight routes or shipping lines are sufficient, accurate, current and timely," Mujiono said in a press release received by Antara on Saturday.

"Our hope is that this cooperation is not only in discussing the disaster problem, but BMKG is expected to join in training together with the Basarnas in SAR training, because BMKG and Basarnas are always in contact with the search and help of the human soul," Mujiono said.

The signing of this cooperation is a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding between Basarnas and BMKG on information on Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics for SAR services for the public.

The signing was carried out by three BMKG offices, namely the Office of the East Kotawaringin Meteorology Station, South Barito, and Tjilik Riwut with the Banjarmasin Basarnas.

"Through the cooperation, that has been carried out in various search and help activities for disaster victims, both parties have legality that they can further improve the quality of services in their respective fields," said Catur Winarti.
