The state-owned ship operator PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) Branch of Batulicin held a free Eid-al-Fitr holiday season trip (mudik) from Samudera Batulicin Seaport toTanjung Perak Surabaya Seaport.

Head of PT Pelni Batulicin Branch Porwadi here on Wednesday said that PT Pelni team-up with the state-owned port operator PT Pelindo III to provide the free Eid al-Fitr 1440 Hijri mudik program.

"Pelindo prepares costs for the 200 ticket and Pelni prepares a fleet to transport the homecoming travellers," said Porwadi.

The plan for the departure of prospective passengers in the free homecoming program is to be held on 29 May using KMP Binaiyah ship.

The target of this program is people who have low income to ease their economic burden.

It is estimated, this year's lebaran (Eid) travelers who use the sea lane to jump up significantly compared to the previous year. "The surge is expected because the number of prospective travelers have shifted from air to sea transportation which is valued at more affordable costs," he said.

For mudik transportation this year PT Pelni prepared two ships, namely KMP Binaiyah, with a capacity of 962 passengers, and KMP Wilis, with a capacity of 548 passengers. The two vessels will serve the Samudra Batulicin-Tanjung Perak Surabaya Port route with a ticket price of IDR 210,000 per person.

"The plan for the ship is scheduled for departure on May 27 and 29. PT Pelni currently sells tickets not exceeding the capacity of the ship," he said.
