Regent South Hulu Sungai (HSS) H Achmad Fikry asked Deputy Regent Syamsuri Arsyad to lead a team specifically dealing with the water quality of the Amandit River.

"The water condition of the Amandit River in HSS must be handled not only by the relevant agencies, but also other parties. All those involved in the team should be active in dealing with the water quality of the Amandit River," he said when chairing the HSS district government coordination meeting at the Fisheries Agency, Wednesday (8/4) morning.

Furthermore, the Regent added, the formation of the team, to be immediately notified to the South Kalimantan Mining Agency, and the Mining Inspector with a copy to the Governor H Sahbirin Noor, through an official letter.

The Regent also requested in order to handle the quality of clean water and a field visit, the special team also involved and coordinated with Forkopimda (regional leader communication forums).

Vice Regent Syamsuri Arsyad said he was ready to follow up and direct the relevant SOPD to immediately handle the water quality of the Amandit River in the district.

The water quality of the Amandit River is of concern to the HSS Government, because the water from this river is the main supplier of raw water for local tap water company (PDAM) besides being used by the residents for daily needs.

Based on observations in the field, the water conditions of the river have lately been cloudy, especially during high tide. As a result, many residents complain they cannot use the river water for their daily needs
