Mayor Banjarmasin Ibnu Sina stated his party continues to fix river tourism destinations in the city to make it more attractive, by carrying out various activities related to the river.
"We are targeting 750 thousand domestic tourists to come to Banjarmasin during 2019, and three thousand foreign tourists," Ibnu Sina said in a talk show at Siring Tendean on Saturday.
The talkshow was in conjunction with the opening of the River Festival and the Indonesian Jukung Bungas (beautiful traditional boat) Festival which was expected to be a magnet to domestic and foreign tourists to visit the city that has 170 rivers.
To stimulate tourist arrivals to Banjarmasin, he said he had launched 41 river-based tourism events.
In the event coupled with various competitions and attractions, Ibnu Sina said the many rivers the city have if managed well and correctly becomes the most beautiful river in the country.
He felt grateful his efforts to create a river as a tourist destination gained community support, especially communities such as the River Concerned Community (Melingai) and the Green Community Forum (FKH).
The talkshow also presented Mohamad Ary from Melingai and Uncle Anum from FKH. Both agreed to support the mayor's desire to create the most beautiful river in Banjarmasin.
The two environmental lovers organizations always educate the public about the importance of maintaining rivers, and keeping the environment clean of waste and creating greenery.
They invited 160,000 students in this city to love the environment. They went to various schools to provide education to students so that later students will become a generation of gold conservationists.
