A mother and her child who were victims of a landslide in Teluk Sungai Village, RT 5, Matasirih Island, Pulau Sembilan Sub-district, Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, have so far not been found.
"The search for digging landslide material has to be stopped because of fear of a subsequent landslide, considering the land in the location is very unstable," said Head of the Emergency and Logistics Section of the Kotabaru Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Saparudin Syukur, Wednesday.
According to the former local village head H Junaidi, the residents who were victims of the landslide were his own brother-in-law, namely Hikmah the mother and her son Salabian.
"Both are buried by landslides," said Saparudin.
In addition to causing buried mothers and children, landslides that occurred at around 8:00 am resulted in eight houses being completely destroyed, and three houses destroyed fifty percent.
A total of 10 families or around 36 people were affected by the landslide disaster.
"At present, the Kotabaru BPBD is preparing logistics to help the victims, and coordinating with the National SAR Agency, to ask the center to send ships to the location, to help search, and evacuate survivors," he explained.
While communication can be done only through the radio Single Sideband (SSB).
"God willing, the logistics that we have prepared will be sent on Friday, by using the Sabuk Nusantara pioneer ship to the location," said Saparudin.
