Ijejela Bahalap Green Community Forum (FKH) in Barito Kuala District, South Kalimantan, held a Green Seminar at the Selidah Hall of the Office of the Regent Barito Kuala, Thursday (18/4).
Batola Regent Hj Noormiliyani AS through Acting Secretary H Abdul Manaf expressed her appreciation for the seminar which was considered to be beneficial to environmental management.
"Through this activity, we hope to realize the implementation of the Green City program that is in line with the physical characteristics and local social culture," he hoped.
The Regent considered, the seminar activities carried out illustrated the concern of this organization for an active role in supporting the government's efforts to organize and create a clean, healthy, calm, cool, and free of all garbage, including plastic waste according to the theme We Grow Concern for Youth in Realizing Barito Kuala Green, Clean and Free of Plastic Waste.
The Regent also hopes the seminar will be able to restore awareness while instilling a love for the environment, especially for children as the next generation of the importance of preserving the environment.
"Green community is one of the important things in developing a green city. Communities like this have a role to ensure the sustainability of the program in the future," she said.
Regarding the existence of FKH Ijejela Bahalap, the regent considered it very appropriate to accommodate communities which focused on environmental and socio-cultural issues in increasing public awareness.
"I hope FKH gives a public understanding of the importance of a green city that is free of garbage for a sustainable balance of city functions, invites people to use green open space and plays an active role in improving its quality and quantity in urban areas," the regent hoped.
The seminar was attended by the Chairwoman of the TP-PKK as Chairperson of the P2KH Management Team Hj Saraswati Dwi Putranti Rahmadian Noor, Head of Environment Agency Fahriana, and heads of government agencies, and involved youth organizations, and students concerned about the environment.
