Central Hulu Sungai District General Election Commission (KPU) began distributing 2019 election logistics to remote areas in Batang Alai Timur (BAT) Sub-district, Sunday (14/4/2019).


The day before, the logistics for the five-yearly democratic party were first stored in the BAT Sub-district Office before being distributed to polling stations (TPS).

Logistics delivery took precedence in the farthest areas, namely Batu Perahu Village (one TPS), Aing Bantai (two TPS), and Juhu (one TPS) which took about two days for common people to arrive. But for residents around it only takes about 12 hours.

Chairman of  BAT sub-district election committee (PPK) Masrawan said for the security of logistics and to avoid damage, booths and ballot boxes were wrapped in plastic and carried by rented porters for the reason of the dangerous terrain.

Each porter carried a booth or ballot box. The delivery fee was IDR 5 million for a round trip. They got security from the police, amounting to eight officers.

The final voters' list (DPT) for Batang Alai Timur is 5,188 voters who will vote in 28 polling stations in 11 villages.

Porter from Aing Bantai Village, Muhin, revealed for several election he always the carrier of electoral logistics goods.

Even though he is old and has three children and 12 grandchildren, he claims he is still strong in carrying election logistics which weighs around 10 kilograms.

Other porter, a resident of Juhu Village, Marwit (65), added, usually without carrying items, it would take 12 hours on foot from Hinas Kiri Village to Juhu Village. However, if you bring goods and groups, it can take up to two days, because you have to stay and put up a tent in the forest.
