Regent of Barito Kuala Hj Noormiliyani AS handed over four klotoks (traditional river boat fitted with motor) as assistance to support Bakut Island Nature Tourism (TWA), Tuesday (3/26).

"The assistance aims to support the tourism under the Barito Bridge to the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) of Marabahan Baru Village, Anjir Muara Sub-district, and Beringin Village of Alalak Sub-district," said the regent.

The four klotok were handed over to the representatives of the pokdarwis in the two villages.

"This assistance is expected to optimize the function of the Bakut Island conservation area as a natural tourism park that can provide benefits both ecologically, economically and socially to surrounding communities in particular and others in general while at the same time increasing the participation and economic efforts of communities around the area," she said.

"I hope the two villages will be able to use and maintain klotok assistance properly as a means of transportation to support tourist visits and can increase people's income while at the same time able to create Sapta Pesona as a guide for tourism management," Noormiliyani said.
