A total of 94 athletes from all 13 districts and cities in South Kalimantan competed in the Provincial Table Tennis Championship (Kejurprov) from March 21 to 24, 2019 in the Kompetem building, Jalan Kayu Putih, Gatot Subroto, East Banjarmasin.


The championship, which was opened by the Head of South Kalimantan Youth and Sports Agency H Hermansyah on Saturday, competed in four categories, namely men's singles, men's teams, women's singles and mixed doubles.

Chairman of the Indonesian Table Tennis Association (PTMSI) for South Kalimantan H Muhaimin revealed the kejurprov was an agenda to go for the 2021 Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) in the South Hulu Sungai (HSS).

"As well as preparations for the Pre PON in June in Jakarta," he said.

According to him, table tennis is constantly striving to improve quality
through official titles, such as at the provincial championship and Pre PON, to form a team towards the 2020 National Sports Week (PON) in Papua.

"All athletes have the opportunity to enter the PON team. All athletes must be serious about practicing," he said.

"In the 2016 PON in West Java, we can only win bronze, the 2020 PON in Papua must be able to win gold," Muhaimin said.
