Aviation Security (Avsec) Officer of Syamsudin Noor Airport foiled an attemted smuggling of shark fin without fish health documents, Friday (22/3).
"The shipping of one coli containing shark fin was not equipped with fish health documents or not reported to the Banjarbaru Fish Quarantine Center," said Airport Security and Safety Department Head Suriganata in Banjarbaru, Saturday.
He said, the effort to ship shark fins through the shipping service of a Banjarbaru branch, with information stated in the packaging receipt is raw crackers.
The sender was PT PA (Kris) with Banjarmasin address and the recipient was PT BKI (Mr LIC) Surabaya.
"The plan is that shark fins will be sent via cargo, Friday around 04:35 using the Citilink aircraft for Surabaya," he said.
Previously, the shipment items were X-rayed by cargo Aviation Security Syamsudin Noor Airport. One package contents did not appear to match the item receipt statement.
On the basis of this suspicion, Avsec officers and quarantine fish on duty, witnessed by the expedition officer, together saw the contents of the items which turned out to be shark fins.
"For further processing, the goods were secured by officers at the Banjarbaru Fish Quarantine Center," he said.
