A total of 20 houses on Jalan Kelayan A Gang Sederhana and Jalan Sejahtera Gang 3 Kelayan Luar Urban Village, Central Banjarmasin, were on fire.
"The fire took place Tuesday morning, around 09.14," Central Banjarmasin Police Chief Adj Comr (AKP) Sigit Prihanto said here on Tuesday.
Some of the residents' houses were completely burned and some were partially burned. However, after temporary checking in the field there were no fatalities.
"Material losses cannot be summed, while the cause of the fire is still in the process of being investigated in the field," he said.
Based on the statement of the Chief of Neighborhood Unit (RT) 2 Arul Ilmi, he said, the fire was allegedly sourced from a house. The occupants cooked using a stove, but was left unattended.
"To be sure we are conducting an investigation, while the scene has been installed by the police line," he said.
