Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - South Kalimantan Forestry Agency is ready to welcome tourists from Helsinki, Finland, who will visit various tourist locations offered at the 2019 Matka-Nordic Travel Fair held in Helsinki some time ago.


Head of the agency Hanif Faisol Nurofiq in Banjarbaru Monday said, as many as 15 delegates from Finland would visit several tourist attractions on March 13, 2019.

Some of the attractions include ecotourism tour packages, bekantan, Kahung Valley tropical rain forest, Lok Baintan Floating Market, and Dayak tribal cultural tours in Haratai and bamboo rafting.

At present, the agency continues to make improvements, especially infrastructure towards tourist sites, tourist facilities, security, cleanliness and others, the construction of the Bakut Island pier, which is a breeding ground for proboscis monkeys.

According to Hanif, Bakut Island is a small island that has become global, so it is now one of the government's concerns to continue to be developed, including its infrastructure.

In addition, the current Kahung Valley natural tourism infrastructure is also adequate, to become one of the tourist destinations in South Kalimantan.

Another location offered is Bekantan Island, which is ready to accommodate proboscis monkeys from the Surabaya Zoo (KBS) and from other areas in South Kalimantan.

"We have prepared all tourist points those will be visited by a team from Finland, till they feel satisfied and declare that South Kalimantan is worthy of being one of the national natural tourist areas can be visited," he said.

Meanwhile, the 15 delegates will help promote, all the potential of South Kalimantan's natural tourism in the international world.

"At present, the international community already knows that Indonesia is not only Bali, Lombok and Yogyakarta, but also South Kalimantan, with all its natural potential," he said.

Moreover, he added, proboscis monkey, was determined to be the third best mascot, after twin pandas from Finland and seahorses from Estonia.

Previously, the South Kalimantan Government attended the travel fair at the 2019 Matka-Nordic Travel Fair in Helsinki, January 17-20, 2019. This is the largest tourism promotion event in the Northern Europe, including the Nordic, Baltic and Russian markets.
