Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Central Hulu Sungai (HST) Population and Civil Registration Agency (Disdukcapil) officers came directly to the Class IIB Barabai Penitentiary to record the identity of prisoners on Thursday (1/17).

Head of Population Services of the agency Norman Effendi said according to the data submitted by the prison, there were about 59 inmates who did not yet have an ID card or the so-called KTP-el.

"But, from the data, it turned out some of them had their identity recorded before entering the prison and we immediately printed their electronic ID cards," he said.

According to him, the officers also carried identity recording equipment, such as cameras, fingerprints, iris, and blank KTP. The KTP-el then could be directly printed on the spot.

"This program is simultaneously throughout Indonesia in accordance with the circular letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Director General of Population and Civil Registration, related to the national movement to serveKTP-el at prisons," he said.

"We only did this recording for one day because there were not many and on average the prisoners had already recorded and we just printed the KTP-el," he said.

The recording must be done for Indonesian citizens who are 17 years old. Moreover, this is a condition for voters to participate in the democratic party for the legislative and president election on April 17, 2019.
