Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District Government under the leadership of Acting Regent H A Chairansyah stated the commitment to carry out the mandate of the environmentally-based Long Term Development Plan (RPJP) and will not damage nature.


"Since the beginning of our leadership, the development that we have planned will not damage nature, no coal mining and oil palm plantations. Now with the remaining tenure we will seek more support and development in the tourism sector," Chairansyah asserted in his office on Thursday (10/1 )

According to him, in 2019 his government will intensively promote and develop the tourism sector in the Meratus mountain region so that Indonesian people will see how beautiful the natural charm of virgin HST which is untouched by coal mining.

"We see together, tourism in HST, both managed by individuals, village governments and local governments, is always crowded with people in South Kalimantan on weekends," he pointed out.

This has become a very strategic potential to develop to increase the income of local residents through the tourism sector.

Chairansyah declared, the efforts of the HST community to protect the environment by not destroying nature received appreciation from the Indonesian National News Agency (LKBN) Antara.

"This award is a form of support and appreciation for our hard work with the citizens of Bumi Murakata (HST's nickname) who have been committed to protecting the environment by rejecting coal exploitation and oil palm plantations," he said.
