Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Balangan Regent H Ansharuddin was so deftly to take a chance at the moment in the LKBN Antara Awarding and Gathering at Mahligai Pancasila Building Banjarmasin to promote rare local fruit. 

To regional heads and invited guests,  H Ansharuddin cunningly revealed the rare various variants of durian fruit (duren), which mostly could only be found in the "Bumi Sanggam," nicknamed of the district.

Durian and pepakin, might be common in South Kalimantan, but the rare of its species, such as Layung, Maharawin, and Mantaula are some of the speciality of Balangan. Even though the appearance of the local durian variant is not much different, but the contents are different in taste and color.

"Insya Allah, South Kalimantan Local Fruit Festival will be held on Saturday (12/1) at about 10:00 am in Marajai Village, Halong Subdistrict, about one hour drive or as far as 40 km to the east of  Balangan capital, Paringin. Here we exhibit and introduce the potentially rare local fruits, from Balangan forest," he pointed out.

To the South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor, Head of South Kalimantan Bureau of LKBN Antara Nurul Aulia Badar, Chairman of PWI South Kalimantan Branch Zainal Ilmi, and to other regional heads and invited guests, he showed the pictures of various types of local fruit variants in his cellphone gallery. 

Responding the promotions, Nurul Aulia Badar, promised to visit Balangan at the event, while at the same time getting to know South Kalimantan and its local wisdom, till to other remote areas.

"God willing, I will attend Balangan, as well as get to know the local wisdom and potentials of the region," he said.

Meanwhile, in the South Kalimantan Local Fruit Festival, will also be holding a discussion on forests and horti related to the challenges of preservation and improving the welfare of communities around the forest. 

Then there will be eating free as many as 500 different kinds of durian, as well as local fruit exhibition.
