Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Governor of South Kalimantan H Sahbirin Noor appreciates the volunteers of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) who are selflessly dedicated.


"They are at the forefront of helping disaster relief selflessly," he said during the commemoration of the PMI Volunteer Day and the awarding of voluntary blood donors (DDS) in Banjarmasin on Saturday.

"They in carrying out relief do not care the situation and conditions," he continued in a speech read by Assistant III for General Administration Heriansyah.

He pointed to the example, when the natural disasters of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi, some South Kalimantan PMI volunteers also gave help in response.

"We hope that South Kalimantan PMI volunteers will continue to increase, quality and quantity, so that it will not only benefit our region, but also others," Sahbirin Noor said.

While the Head of South Kalimantan PMI H Gusti Iskandar Sukma Alamsyah SE hopes the PMI Volunteer Day will be more motivating volunteers in social services to humanity.

"Up to 100 times donors have the chance to get an award from the President of the Republic of Indonesia," said Gusti Iskandar, a former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR-RI) from the Golkar Party.

As many as 55 DDS received the award because they made donors 75 times. One donor was 99 times and one person 100 times, namely Syaifudin and Abas Pulah.

Abas Pulah, who was born in Ambon, is still active as a member of the Navy, and now lives in Banjarbaru (about 35 kilometers north of Banjarmasin).
