Kotabaru - Tiga Roda cement industry PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk Plan Tarjun in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, cooperates with farmer groups around the company's location to develop a five-hectare corn plant.

PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tarjun factory's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager H Teguh Iman Wibowo in Kotabaru on Thursday said the development of corn plants made use of land in the embung (retention basins) area in Langadai Village, Kelumpang Hilir Subdistrict.

"Indocement, which owns 500 hectares, is only used 100 hectares, so the land to be used for corn cultivation is still quite extensive," he said.

He hoped by utilizing the land around the embung location, there would be a synergy of the embung location to be used as agro-tourism as well as the center of corn.

"Hopefully, in the next three months this corn can produce 12 tons so that it can support food security in Kotabaru," Teguh said.

Tarjun Village Chief Sjahrani added, around the village, there are still around 50 hectares of land owned by Indocement which can also be used by farmer groups to develop corn plants, in order to improve the welfare of the community.

"The farmer group that works with Indocement in the program to plant corn is the Mesra Farmer Group," he said.
