Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Head of the Kalimantan Regional Office of Financial Services Authority (OJK) Hariyanto said that OJK will take firm action against peer to licensed peer lending (P2P) organizers who if proven to have committed a violation.

"As for illegal P2P, the OJK through the Investment Alert Task Force will carry out a number of actions to cut off the flow of funds," Hariyanto said in Banjarmasin on Wednesday (12/12).

According to him, P2P is an alternative form of funding that facilitates access to public finance. But in addition to the benefits that can be obtained, the public must really understand the risks, obligations, and costs when interacting with P2P, to avoid things that are harmful.

As of December 12, 2018, P2P organizers with registered status reached 78 organizers. Those who are not registered are categorized as illegal P2P.

"OJK warns that the existence of illegal P2P is not under the supervision of any party, so transactions with them are very high risk for its users," he warned.

OJK prohibits legal P2P organizers from accessing contact lists, image files and personal information from P2P user smartphones and must fulfill all the provisions of POJK 77/2016 and POJK 18/2018 regarding Financial Services Sector Consumer Protection.

"OJK can impose sanctions in accordance with article 47, namely written warnings, fines, restrictions on business activities up to revocation of registration marks or permits," he said firmly.
