Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The 2018 Murjani Festival held for the first time by the Banjarbaru City Government this year was lively, followed by thousands of participants who wore distinctive clothing.


"This festival is a year-end activity and is centered in the Murjani field to show this public area is one of the icons of Banjarbaru that must be visited," said Mayor Nadjmi Adhani here Friday.

He said the festival was unique because only one month was prepared, while thousands of participants from various offices and city government agencies were involved here.

Moreover, they have to wear traditional custom clothing from various regions of Indonesia plus the creation of janur which must be pinned on clothing or made as accessories.
     
"We deliberately involve official agencies. They are also obliged to wear traditional clothes and janur to show various tribes, customs, and cultures (of residents) in Banjarbaru," he said.
  
In addition to highlighting the customs and culture of Indonesia, the inaugural festival showed other characteristics of Banjarbaru, known as the thematic villages.
   
"A number of thematic villages brought by participants were displayed, such as the Mentaos Fish Village, North Landasan Ulin Vegetable Village, and Purun Village of Cempaka," he said.
   
The municipal government discourse festival as an annual agenda to be held at the end of the year and prepared for more festive and lively participated by more participants.
