Amuntai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Head of the North Hulu Sungai Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Sugeng Riyadi said the handling of disasters and post-disaster in the district needs comprehensive planning involving all relevant agencies and the private sector.

"There should be comprehensive planning and contingency by involving various government and private agencies, so that disaster mitigation can be carried out quickly and precisely," he said in Amuntai on Friday.

Sugeng said contingency planning is preparedness to deal with disasters, the ability to minimize the impact of disasters, and their recovery.

When a disaster occurs, each party moves directly to deploy officers and equipment without being asked or ordered, because each of them already knows the task based on the agreed contingency plan.

Sugeng acknowledged that HSU's BPBD already had a disaster-prone map as reference data to find out the place and condition that had been determined by the BPBD to anticipate.

The disaster-prone maps of the BPBD include floods, landslides, tornadoes, building fires and settlements, forest and land fires, droughts and disasters.

However, he said, the disaster-prone map is still less in use by related agencies to the community in the process of building physical facilities, probably due to a large-scale natural disaster never occurs in HSU.

"Sometimes there is from PU (Public Works) referring to disaster-prone maps in infrastructure development plans, such as building roads along river banks," Sugeng told.
