Kandangan, S Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Deputy III for Education, Socialization, Participation, and Partnership of Peat Restoration Agency Myrna Asnawati and her team met with South Hulu Sungai Regent (HSS) H Achmad Fikry and Deputy Regent Syamsuri Arsyad in the Regent's office on Monday.


Dermawati Sihite, Head of the Working Group of Supervision of Concession Land Management, said their presence here is to synergizing the utilization plan of peatland in the Daha, in addition to reporting on the activities of the Peat Restoration Agency in HSS.

"The Peat Restoration Agency has started activities at HSS since 2017 and in 2018 there are two villages assisted by the agency, namely the Paramaan Village and Pandak Daun Village," he said.

According to her, it is very appreciative of the commitment of the HSS Regent to be able to synergize existing activities in the village with peatland restoration activities.

The Regent welcomed the visit of the Peat Restoration Agency and hoped that the right synergy would be able to utilize peatland in the Daha area, could also improve the economy of the Daha community which includes South Daha, North Daha, and West Daha.

Meanwhile, the Peat Restoration Agency will invite the community to use technology in clearing land, so that land clearing by burning can be avoided.

"We are committed to reducing forest and land fires by giving direction to every vulnerable village to have portable fire extinguishers that can reach difficult location access for firefighters," he said.
