Pelaihari, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Regent of Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan, H Sukamta said the Ministry of Transportation said that Swarangan Port in Jorong Sub-district would be operated from 2020.
"With the target of 2020 Swarangan Port to operate, then by 2019 the construction will be completed," said Regent Sukamta in Pelaihari, Tuesday.
According to him, the optimism for the completion of the Swarangan Port construction in 2019 because the development is carried out in multi-years.
The existence of the port, he said, is certainly very supportive of the smooth sea transportation in South Kalimantan. It can reduce the cost of transportation from Kalimantan to Java and other regions, even speeding up the transportation of goods and passengers.
Swarangan Port, he explained, could encourage investment in Tanah Laut, while opening up new employment opportunities for the local community.
Previously, Tanah Laut businessman H Iriansyah said he was optimistic that the development of Swarangan Port has a positive impact on the development of Tanah Laut, especially from the economic and employment sectors.
