Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan's rubber export value rose significantly to 79.99 percent in 2017 reached US$233 million compared to 2016 which recorded at US$129.5 million.


Head of Foreign Trade Sector of South Kalimantan Trade AgencyRiaharti Zulfahani in Banjarmasin on Wednesday said the increase in export value was driven by rising rubber prices in various export destination countries and improving the quality of farmers rubber.

According to Riaharti, in recent years rubber prices are relatively good, although price volatility is still common.

The increase in export value, relatively significant, when compared with the increase in export of rubber production only 34 percent. Natural rubber production in 2016 reached 99.5 thousand tons and in 2017 to 133.7 thousand tons.

In addition to natural rubber, exports of palm oil products also rose from 1.5 million tons more to 1.8 million tons more or up about 15.32 percent.

The export value of one of South Kalimantan's flagship products rose from US$968.4 million to more than US$1.1 billion.
