Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews South Kalimantan) - Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) seeks to mobilize national economy through Indonesian culinary industry by organizing FoodStartup Indonesia (FSI) 2018 as an effort to face the global market.


Deputy Access to Capital Bekraf Fadjar Hutomo in Banjarmasin said on Tuesday the 2016 Institute for the Center Data of the Creative Economy (EUFA) survey showed more than 40 percent of the eco-grade GDP contributors came from the culinary sub-sector.

Through FSI 2018, he added, Bekraf seeks to develop the ecosystem of pioneering entrepreneurs (startup) culinary sub-sector and scale-up culinary business that originated from the young nation's creative ideas.

"Indonesia has a good opportunity, a huge opportunity to compete in the global market through the culinary sub-sector," he said.

According to him, Indonesia has a variety of "local ingredient" and varied food, which can be maximized to the uniqueness and attractiveness in the global market.

To maximize the national culinary potential to be global, Hutomo said, Bekraf collaborated with various parties to increase culinary contribution to national GDP, among others with private parties, investors, philanthropy, and the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM).

"The private sector, investors, and philanthropy have the capacity and capability of encouraging "startup" to "scale up" and ready to compete with other nations," he said.

Meanwhile, BPOM contributes to hygienic product certification to be accepted by the global market.

Bekraf, he added, will facilitate Indonesian culinary startups who want their products promoted to the wider community through expo, improving the quality of their products through mentoring with expert mentors in the culinary field ranging from chef, culinary business, to investors.
