Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Mayor of   Banjarmasin H Ibnu Sina stated his government this year budgeted Rp6 billion for urban sanitation program and Rp4 billion for wastewater treatment. 


"This is our commitment to improve sanitation and household wastewater that can pollute the environment," he said at the discussion of social marketing capacity building of wastewater company PD PAL to reach universal access 100-0-100 in Banjarmasin on Tuesday. 

According to him, the program of urban sanitation improvement with a budget of Rp6 billion is indeed still not too maximal, but with the spirit of together to build a healthier city will great influence in the future. 

Sanitation in the sense of intentional behavior in the culture of clean living with the intention of preventing humans from direct contact with dirt and other hazardous waste materials in the hope that this effort will maintain and improve human health. 

"We must continue to socialize with the community because many people still do not understand and have not been educated about this very important basic program," he said. 

According to him, the city government has been working hard for the sanitation program can be maximized by requiring the development of eligible housing complex, which is providing 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) temporary trash disposal sites (TPS) and all the houses subscribe to wastewater treatment. 

The reason, if not emphasized so, then the city of Banjarmasin whose land structure is under the sea surface with the continued development of settlements will continue to make pollution. 

President Director of PD PAL Banjarmasin Rahmatullah stated that the target of accelerating the construction of household wastewater treatment with a pipeline network system is 15 percent in 2019.

"The remaining 85 percent using individual and communal systems must be standardized and feasible to properly process household wastes," he explained.
