Jakarta (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor for his efforts to improve the quality of education at all levels, elementary, secondary, college education, and professional institutions, received the 2017 Education Concern Award or Anugerah Peduli Pendidikan.


The Award was handed over by President Joko Widodo at Esa Unggul University, Jakarta, on Wednesday (29/11). The award from the Association of Indonesian Private Higher Education (Aptisi) was also given to the Governor of East Kalimantan and the Governor of West Java.

Previously Uncle Birin (South Kalimantan Governor's call) was crowned as the regional head who care of education by Lambung Mangkurat University and was awarded 2017 Ki Hajar Award from the Minister of Education and Culture.

President Joko Widodo gave a great appreciation to the regional head for the commitment and integrity of advancing education in their respective regions. According to the president, education development is one of the main pillars to build Indonesia more advanced.

Education is the main adhesive tool for advancing other strategic development sectors, either in health, in improving the economy and the welfare of the people.

Governor H Sahbirin Noor expressed his gratitude for Aptisi's trust by awarding the regional head who owned high commitment to private universities.

"This is an achievement of the people of South Kalimantan, especially educational people who have been concerned to improve the quality of education in the regions, let us continue to work hard to build and improve the quality of regional education," said Uncle Birin.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Aptisi M Budi Djatmiko said the award was given to the head of the region proven to support the progress of universities through measurable policies in the field of education.
