South Kalimantan governor to villages to fight drugs

Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (AntaraNewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor took to the villages and sub-districts in the province to invite communities together to overcome and combat drug trafficking.

Governor Sahbirin Noor in Banjarbaru on Monday said the current circulation of narcotics and illegal drugs in South Kalimantan is very alarming, so the participation of all parties is needed to eradicate it.

"South Kalimantan is currently quite vulnerable to drug abuse, which can damage the next generation of the nation," he said.

He asks the whole community to contribute to forming a young generation of superior, drug-free and far from promiscuity.

One of the areas visited by the Governor for an anti-narcotics campaign is the North Landasan Ulin Village, Banjarbaru City.

Together with the Mayor of Banjarbaru Najmi Adhani and the local community, the Governor asked all concerned parties, including security forces, village officials, family, community and others, to be on guard against the circulation of drugs.

"I always try to go to the field, both to the remote village and urban village, to absorb aspirations, as well as invite people to jointly combat drug abuse, which has threatened the future of Indonesia's young generation," he said.

Head of North Landasan Ulin Penitentiary Foundation Soemarno said the presence of the Governor has been highly waited by the citizens in the Best Village of the National level in 2015.

On that occasion, Soemarno asked the provincial government to help to repair drainage on Jl A Yani Km 22 to Km 24. Each time of heavy rain, he said, the road is inundated and has been a trouble for the road users.
