River congress produced "Banjarmasin Declaration"

Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan 4/11 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The 3rd Indonesian River Congress (KSI III) held during 1-4 November 2017 in Banjarmasin finally produced five points of the "Banjarmasin Declaration".

The five points of the declaration, said the Mayor of Banjarmasin H Ibnu Sina who closed the event at the ex-office yard of the Governor of South Kalimantan, Saturday, should be echoed to enter the State Palace.

"This is an important activity for the conservation of rivers in the archipelago, so the determination and common thoughts in this Congress should be the attention of the central government, hopefully, can be brought into the State Palace," he said.

Moreover, he called, the 4th River Congress (KSI IV) will be held in Jakarta.

And with the success of KSI III in Banjarmasin, known as the City of Thousand Rivers, it will always be open for national activities.

"Hope always remember and miss to come to Banjarmasin, the most beautiful river city in Indonesia," said Ibnu Sina.

The five notes of KSI III is the first to remind that the water resources in Indonesia have been very critical to be overcome by cultural approaches, law, policy improvement, basic education, an information system that can be reached by society, innovation of appropriate technology that is environmentally friendly.

Second is to reduce the rate of deforestation by managing policies, controlling permits and monitoring forest utilization.

Third to ensures the river as the vein of maritime civilization built through policy, education, culture, and development strategies to realize ecological, economic, and sociocultural based.

Fourth is mainstreaming local wisdom in strengthening river civilization through community initiatives with adat strengthening, IT utilization, research enhancement related to the preservation of local wisdom.

Fifth, urged the establishment of a river authority body or river ministry, forming a network of river community movements and involving the role of business and industry to accelerate the process of restoring the quality, quantity, structuring of rivers and environmentally friendly water resources.

Chairman of the organizing committee of KSI III Syaipul Adhar stated the information generated from the thought of about 700 congress participants from all over Indonesia will be presented to the President.
