Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan 2/11 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Kalimantan Forestry Agency (Dishut) is ready to make the Kahung Valley as an international tourist destination that features the concept of geopark or the earth park with biodiversity.

"We are ready to make Kahung Valley become an international tourist destination because of its very supportive natural conditions," said the head of the agency Hanif Faisol Nurrufiq in Banjarbaru on Thursday.

Geopark, he said, is a natural heritage (geology) and a place of life for biodiversity, both flora, and fauna.

In fact, he dares to mention the geopark of the Kahung Valley, which has an area of ??approximately 500 hectares located in Aranio, Banjar District, could defeat the Amazon forest.

"The Kahung Valley is an area of tropical rainforest that has a lot of biodiversity in both flora and fauna. Its beauty exceeds the Amazon forest," he said.

He said the area, which is included in the Sultan Adam's Public Forest Park, about 35 kilometers from Martapura, the capital of Banjar, is ready to become an icon of South Kalimantan.

"Flora and fauna that grow and breed in the Kahung Valley are rich and natural, that is all that will be offered to foreign tourists," he said.

The information he got many foreign tourists had come to the Kahung Valley, but in a quiet way without official reporting.

"That signifies the Kahung Valley has become a destination for foreign tourists who want to enjoy the authenticity of tropical rainforest that is only on the island of Kalimantan," he said.

As a form of the seriousness of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government to make it a new tourist attraction, he said, a considerable budget has been allocated in the 2018 local budget.

"We have allocated a budget Rp 700 million, both to finance the survey and research in addition to preparing other supporting facilities," he said.
